In 1999, I left the corporate accounting world and convinced my wife that we should pour our hearts into the things that we enjoy the most – food and people. Wholeheartedly she agreed and Bene Gourmet Pizza was born.
Like everyone else, we appreciate good service, great food, and a tasteful environment, but as customers our dining expectations were not consistently met. With Bene Gourmet Pizza our goal was to create a casual restaurant that delivered the entire experience at a reasonable price.
We combined our experience in business, operations and service and spent the following months pulling together a sophisticated advisory board with seasoned professionals, selecting a site for our first location, developing and testing our menu, building relationships with local suppliers and hiring and training our employees.
In March 2000 we opened the first Bene Gourmet Pizza in downtown Eugene, Ore. and grew to three locations in Eugene over the next four years.

Committed to its communities as well as the environment, Bene embraces sustainable business practices. We buy organic and locally when available and support not-for profit organizations supported by our customers such as Kids Sports, 4J School District, Eugene Symphony, among others.
